Difficult one but in this case I'd tell your sister as she may not have seen her son for a while and be out of touch with his lifestyle and habits. But I'd try and get as much verification as possible from your reliable source first. But so that you can support her, I'd also try and find out in advance what kind of support and counselling services might be available for your nephew so that you don't just hit her with bad news (if it's true) without giving her some positive straws to grasp.

I agree with Wendy. I think if you didn't tell her and he gets worse and something swful happens, that would cause more heartache than actually telling her and you would feel the guilt for the rest of your life.

Wendy is right, gather as much information on how to help and present all of this when you tell her.

Good luck xxx

I agree with the above answers, definatly tell your sister. It will be difficult but if you don't then it's just going to play on your mind.

Obviously it won't be an easy thing to do but as you said if it was your own son you would want to know.

Like the reply's above said, try and find out how he can get help first before you tell her, then take time out to sit your sister down, just the two of you and say (in the calmest way you can so she doesnt panic) - this may come as a shock to you but i have heard that "insert nephews name" is on heroine. Say that you havent actually spoken to him about it but the source you have heard it from is someone u trust and you thought that she should know.

The important thing is to let her know you are there for her and will support her and help her try and get it sorted. Tell her the info you have found out and say it won't be easy but together u can help him get through it.

Good luck

x

i agree with the above posts but how about approaching him first and telling him the options about which he can get help x
Another agreement here. I would have wanted to know if my sons, now 30 & 32, had ever been into drugs, & if my teenage nephew, heaven forbid, ever did I would tell my sister. It's very difficult for you all but good luck.

www.frank.co.uk is a good site to start with too :)

Yes. Tell her what you suspect.
I'd suggest you talking to your nephew about it first and confirm that he is really on drugs. If possible, let him settle the problem on its own. He is 23 anyways. If he is en route thru rehabilitation then perhaps you should leave it to him whether or not he wants to inform his mother about it. Should he refuse to co-operate or go thru rehabilitation then by all means inform your sister about it and help her through her time of need.
Good Luck.
