diverticulitis

I have a friend who has recently been diagnosed with diverticulitis and I wondered if there is any sort of support group she could join. Unfortunately she isn't a computer person so it would have to be another form of communication. Thanks

A course of antibiotics got rid of the infection and there has been no problem since. No need to join a support group, for me anyway. You local hospital would have info if any.
You dont need a support group, just google Diverticulitis. Sensible eating will help. No curries, spicy foods, nothing white - bread, flour, rice etc. Plenty of fruit and roughage. Common sense really. This should settle it, as well as antibiotics. If the worst happens they will have to operate and remove part of the gut but as you have about 20 feet of it, it doesn't matter. Your friend will have a colostomy bag until the inflammation and operation heals, this could take six months but worth it in the long run. Good luck x
12 Years ago I was diagnosed with diverticulitis & was in great pain. I was taken into hospital & put on an antibiotic drip for 5 days & Nil by mouth. After this I was x-rayed & they found my prob really was Bowel Cancer, an urgent op was performed and here I am that 12 years later & Cancer clear & fine.
