I won an auction yesterday and sent the money by Paypal.
Today I received an email from the seller saying...
'I have just discovered that ebay has changed my default paypal address to my old one. This is a huge issue as you can imagine as it means your payments won't actually go anywhere.'
He says to cancel the payment but it already shows as completed on my Paypal account.
Firstly I don't believe that Ebay would or could change his address but what can I do to get my funds back?
sounds dodgy to me.do not pay again.get a refund from paypal.report them for non delivery.this may sound harsh but it is the sellers problem not yours.only pay once you have received refund in full.
log into your paypal account, and see if the payment is "pending" if so,cancel the payment. if not, email the seller, ask what they intend to do, if no satisfactory answer, then take up a ( dispute) with paypal, but wait a few days to see if the goods arrive,
Paypal sends cash to an email address that is registered with paypal. If he has changed his email address but not told paypal the payment has gone to the old email which must still be active or the payment would not be accepted.
Check your paypal home page , if the payment says 'pending' or 'not accepted' you can cancel the transaction and get the cash back instantly.
If it says 'completed' then he has the cash and can transfer it by logging into his 'default' address.
He is either an idiot or taking the p*ss.
All he has to do is log in to his paypal account at the email/paypal address you sent the money to, then he can transfer the cash to another paypal account or to his bank.
Don't report him as non-delivering yet - that is the absolute last resort if you have tried everything else. This person hasn't non-delivered, he doesn't appear to have been paid. You can always reverse the PayPal payment if you think that the transaction is now dodgy - go to the eBay resolution centre now (there's a link on your PayPal transaction sheet for this particular purchase) and report what's happening, don't delay it and you only have so long to report this sort of thing.
Strangely he has now sorted it 'with the help of paypal' and the item has now been despatched. In his email he asked if I still wanted the item!
I won it quite cheaply so I wonder if he was trying to put me off?!
