Is that how you spell it?

Anyhoo, my eldest daughter (23) has got this. She's currently on Morphine, Tramadol (sp?), Diazapan (again sp?) and also gobbling Paracetamols and Ibuprophin (ditto sp!).

She literally can't move without help. It took me half an hour yesterday to heave her upstairs just for a shower. This has been going on for nearly 2 weeks now. When can we reasonably expect to see an improvement? Should she also be receiving further help from her GP other than them chucking pills at her? Which frankly seem to doing nowt other than turning her into a space cadet?

I must admit I still have problems from damaged nerves.

I also must admit that I have been prone to sciatica for as long as I can remember and it was at it's worse when I was pregnant. Horrible thing!!

She's got physio coming next week trt, possibly Monday if there's a cancellation, if not, Thursday.

Cheers maggiebee. Never having suffered with it (touch wood!) It's hard for me to gauge how much pain she's in, but even a heartless bag like me, can clearly see she is.

will let you know how we/she gets on Lottie xxx
Is your daughter really on that concotion of medication; Morphine, Tramadol, Diazepam + Paracetamol and Ibuprofen? If that is the case then she should have an urgent medical reassessment.
Question Author
No, i lied...

Yes she's really on them!
BOO, I didn't mean to imply that your daughter wasn't on the medication you describe, more that it is a heavy concotion and should be reassessed with some urgency.
Question Author
oh right, sorry, I just assumed you thought either I or her were lieing.

The doctor on call gave them to her, and she's had a repeat prescription already.
Hi - your daughter's condition sounds serious - especially if she is losing bladder control. I had a serious bout of sciatica c10 years ago - physio; GP advice camne nowhere near fixing it. After three - four months I was on morphine. One day I found I couldn't pee - I was rushed to hospital, had an MRI scan and the next day had a microdiscectomy operation which was very successful. My advice: hassle your GP for an MRI scan ASAP. Then take it from there. My sympathies to your daughter - serious sciatica is about as painful as it gets.

Hiya Carpetowl- she's marginally a smidgen better. She hasn't wet the bed for the past two mornings and she's made herself shuffle about a bit more, so we're hoping there's a light at the end of the tunnel. :-)
