I tried this a few years ago on Windoze 98 and managed to rip out half of the OS and had to re-format and re-install even though I used the "Add/Remove Programs" application.
I don't use it. I don't want it and it's taking up valuable space.

Or am I stuck with it?

Sorry: Vista Home Basic SP2
You can....

But if you think the tiny amount of space IE takes up is an issue I'd suggest you look elsewhere to save disk space or get a larger hard drive.

How much space does it use? Microsoft programs are usually large and ungainly.
A larger hard drive is not really an option as I have a laptop. Space is not a big issue at the moment but I am at the stage where I am looking to remove anything that's unnecessary.
Thanks for your prompt reply though.
Internet Explorer is part of the OS and is used by it from time to time to execute certain programs so basically it shouldn't be removed . Even you may not use it the space it occupys is very little and with Microsoft upgrading the latest version to suit your version of Windows by automatic updates they expect you to have it installed.
There are far larger thing you can easily remove. IE is tiny in computer terms.

Run Disk Clean Up (supplied with Windows)

Turn off System Restore to delete all your old restore points, then turn System Restore back on again.

Turn off Hibernation.

Run a program called Compcln that deletes loads of files that are no longer required after Service Pack 2 has been installed

Please excuse my bad manners.
Thanks for the tips VHG, I've used them and freed up some space.

One day I'll get away from the WinTel conspiracy and go over to Linux.
