Is this man for real, or is it yet another flimsy excuse for dishing out millions of pounds of the tax payers money abroad, while at the same time experiencing cuts to services, unemployment and price rises in this country?

I think people who have suffered at the hands of criminals in this country recently (and in the past) may disagree with that story. Their suffering does not stop there when the sentences handed out are not befitting of the crime. Good post aog.

Foreign aid, yes indeed. It does take some explaining.
Two girls knocked on my door once representing the British Red Cross, her opening gambit was "you know all the good we for this country"
NO.
This was at the time of the Pakistani floods and I knew what was coming so I told her I would not give her money to send to a corrupt regime that hates us and would then fund the Taliban. I went on to explain that she was a traitor and treason was punishable by hanging.
She left rather quickly with her mute and presumably brainwashed friend in tow.

Why are we trying to help the world's 7 billion people when we can't even cater for the 60 million at home satisfactorily. Grandiose schemes for helping the world's poor have the habit of kicking you back in the face. They never appreciate it and usually respond by saying we are acting like past colonialists.

Then the Taliban could perhaps make a visit with their first wave of sacrificial sheep, the result of the active training centres once the "saner" nations have pulled out, thereby ceasing their limitation and closure activities of this wing of potential international terrorism.
