'Limbo' Old style 2d platform game (released 2010)
'Limbo' is the name of the game and if like me you miss the old style 2d platform 'puzzle' game then I highly recommend this gem of a game.
Its like a series of short mind puzzles as your character makes his way through Limbo... no weapons, not a shoot em' up type.
You will die... 'trial and death' as you try to figure out how to get past each obstacle... *warning* Extremely highly addictive! I've being waiting years for a game like this...
...Just thought I'd share :-)

Many are as intelligent an well designed as Limbo (which I agree, is good fun).
Try Kyntt Stories in particular.

Old style 2D platform puzzle games..
This might not be your thing (it's a bit cutesy), but then again there is some cartoon animal cruelty as well. It's a remake from a 1980's game.

My niece played it and asked me to help her out, I didn't have a clue! It's harder than it looks.
