Google don't store the information. They just search and link you to it.

Of course they store information.

They are constantly searching the internet themselves to "find" all the information and cataloging the results so that when you do a search they can find the results quickly.

You dont think they do each search live do you?

Also they save information about your searches, and information in your mail (if you use Gmail) so that they can target advertising to you personally.

So if you have been searching for say "digital cameras" then if at a later date you go to a web site that has space for adverts they will put adverts for digital cameras on that page.

All that information has to be stored somewhere.

While Google wont release the information I did read somewhere it is estimated they have thousands of computer servers all over the world.

I'm not saying they don't store information, I'm saying that they don't store the data itself but instead they store metadata.

They do store the data, as you can find cached pages when the original site is down.
