Yew Trees gone brown
We planted a hedge of yews last year, probably about 16 separate plants in all. We had to replace a couple early on when they when brown and died. We now have another two that have gone brown, but do not appear to have died. The needles still seem plump and have not dried out or shed off the plant.
Are they dead or dying and will I need to replace them?

Might be severe windburn but sounds like you've lost them ... wait until spring and give them an all over trim if you have green wood its worth waiting to see if they send out some new growth. If you need to replace them its worth putting a barrier of windbreak fabric on both sides until they are really established (about 3 years)
