How do I cancel/deactivate my facebook account?

I don't think you can.

You may be able to go back and cleanse your account though by deleting your posts and photos.

You used to be able to - my son did it when his account got hacked. But can't find anywhere that allows me to.

Click on arrow next to home--top left of page -- click account settings -- on left of page see security -- click on that -- at bottom of page you should see deactivate account.

I think I was answering 'how can I delete my FB account' - which I'm pretty sure you can't do.

What does deactivating do? Is you account just frozen in time?

Yes Eccles. You can re-activate at any time...

If you deactivate you won't come up on searches...you'll never appear in 'friends you might know'

No one can view you page....it's gone....but only into facebook purgatory.
