She had a routine which worked for the 40 odd years I was at work whilst she ran the household and the children. I also discovered that I had to court her again, which was, and still is wonderful. We both now enjoy each other and both have our routines which keeps us from getting under each others feet. When you get there, ENJOY. B.
Absolutely love being retired. I have been retired for a year. My partner is still at work for another 2.5 years. I spend days walking and meeting with old friends and family. I try not to get bogged down in too much housework. At weekends I try to do something with my partner. At the moment everything is wonderful.
Didn't have any choice about it as forced to retire as the result of a stroke. For the first year I couldn't do much at all, then I got Max and between his walks, training and light housework, as Trish was still working, I was doing more work then when I was working. Since Trish has now finished work we still never seem to have time to do everything we just enjoy not doing it more.
Taking voluntary redundancy at end of this month and have just started to think what to do at home all day. Have looked after father-in-law for past 20 years but he died in December. As he dementia and was incontinent he needed full time caring so OH worked nights and I worked days and we sorted him out between us. Not been out in the evening for about the last six years except for the odd concert or two when our son came over and looked after dad so the freedom I have got at the moment takes some getting used to. OH retires in June so have got two holidays booked, some decorating to do at home and then we'll have to start getting out and about. Will miss work as I really love my job so may look for something to volunteer for to keep me busy.
Been retired for nearly 4 years now. I love my garden and spend long hours there in the summer. Also love travelling and go abroad 3/4 times per year. Volunteer with Samaritans and do volunteer training as well as looking after a small group of volunteers. Go to Uni 1 afternoon per week to pursue my interest in opera. Go to theatre, cinema, talks etc etc with friends - free bus pass means we can travel all over Scotland for free. Family live some distance away so visit them for special days out etc. Have my grandchildren to stay during school holidays etc etc etc. List is endless and I still have time to read, listen to the radio, watch TV and play on the computer. Don't know how I ever had time to work. Comes to us all so might as well enjoy.
