This one is really annoying Ed as it sits either side, so it's flashing all the time you're trying to read answers to posts.

My objection to private messaging is that as far as I am aware I don't know anybody on AB.
Anything an ABer has to say to me can be said on the site - I don't want potentially abusive or offensive private messages, nor over familiar ones.
I'm not anti-social, I just don't think that is the purpose of AB.

To you reply Ed, I do understand that you have to make the site pay they also thought that on the site I referred to earlier in my post, when this started to happen members started to go, what started as a bloody good site ended with less & less members, I have not been or looked on that site since joining T.A B. but have kept in contact with a few people that was on, they have left, I have mentioned this site ( Crawl crawl brownie points) to them, all I am saying & I said the same to the Eds of that site, "Dont forget the people that made the site so popular, your members" this comment is not meant as an insult to the running of the site but a comment from a member that looks forward to coming on here without getting these dam ads all over the place.
Zeuhl - I suspect hc is against the private messaging of mistaken definitions ;-)

Lose the ads and we would lose the amusement of the Dating Site ad that has been showing these last few days.
PMs can be set up by using an intermediary e-mail and then taken from there......
I would consider a small fee for a gold but really I too mentally block out the Ads - this is not good news for any of them tracking us for take-up and awareness, is it?
