Does your council grit the pavement?

Just seen someone on Facebook having a big old moan because our parish council has not gritted the pavements, although they seem to have done a good job on the roads and it occurred to me that I don't recall them ever gritting them.

On my way to work this morning (in another county) it was obvious none of the pavements around here have been done either.

Does your council make an effort to keep the pavements clear and if they don't do you think they should?

You must be joking. We're lucky if they do the roads.
we have a yellow hopper full of grit on the corner, I guess it is inteneded for residents to do their own gritting for pavements.
I guess we're lucky. Our Council have mini-snowploughs and mini-gritters for use on the pavements. If there's frozen slush that these machines can't deal with, a few squads of workmen will turn out with picks and shovels. Main roads and school routes first, of course.
LOL, I've got an advert for a gritting machine against this thread, have you? http://www.gritex.co....qn4ia4CFUVTfAodQ1EJ2Q
no way do they grit our pavements, they don't even do the side roads, and don't have grit bins either!........
No not even on our footpaths, but yes to the main roads.
We clear our own paths outside our houses rather than wait for someone to do it for us. We have done this for years.

It makes me laugh when people complain about the state of the paths, yet nobody can be bothered to clear them. Do them yourselves, why wait for the council?
come on SB, that means taking some responsibility, and not expecting someone else (the "them") to do things for you :-)
Edinburgh City Council is one of the worst on the planet, however, they do grit the pavement outside my shop. It could be because we are close to the council building though!
completely agree. My husband was out the front gritting ours and our neighbours walks simply because he doesn't want to fall over or any of our neighbours to fall over.
No pavement outside our house either, im not sure a gritting lorry could get up through our lane to be honest. We have just bought our own bags of grit and stationed it ready to use.
