Just discovered I am allergic to this... i did a few tests on myself and developed and bad headache, dizziness and stomach ache over and over after eating some fudge made with it.
i have had this reaction before but never known why.
I've looked online and these symptoms are known and because all the other ingredients were basic stuff i eat all the time, like sugar, milk cocoa etc and the soye lecithin is the only 'unusual' one... so i am pretty sure that it is the culprit
can anyone tell me things that might contain this, so i can avoid them?
I am not sure of the point of adding it to fudge etc...
I'm no expert but suggest you put 'What is soya lecithin?'
in the search box of your browser. There are many references. As one might expect it is an extract from soya beans. Lecithin is also reported to be a naturally occurring substance found in beef, eggs and other foods, but why the soya source should be any different is not clear. I can't help wondering if there is some other reason for your problem and would suggest you seek professional advice.
Best wishes.
I`m very allergic to peanuts and react to all beans so that includes soya. Soya is not an unusual ingredient and is really hard to avoid. You`ll probably find you`ve eaten it in most of the "basic stuff" you eat all the time. Most breads contain soya flour. Be sure it is soya causing the problem before you decide to avoid it. I carry an epi pen for the peanuts but hell will freeze over before I avoid the coffee and chocolate.
