I am a real cheese fan, I love the stuff. But I bought some t'other day that turned my stomach! It was blacksticks blue. I was hungry when I got it home so I thought I would break it out with a couple of crackers. But when I sliced down the side it kind of crumbled apart and was very, very black furry inside, where I imagined the 'blue' should be. I cut it again in a different place and same again, black and very furry inside. I love stilton, danish blue, shropshire blue, gorgonzola etc, etc but I just couldn't bring myself to but this black furriness in my mush.
Is it supposed to be like that or did I buy a bad 'un?
Why not contact Butlers, to tell them of your disappointment? There's a contact form on their (extremely irritating) website:
(You have to click on the phone box!)
Mandimoo, I think you definitely had a bad 'un! It's one of my favourite cheeses and Chris's link is exactly how it should look. I'd write to them for sure.
I see what you mean about the webs(h)ite!! But I found the telephone and Ive sent them an enquiry. I will let you know what they feedback. Thank you both.
Dear Mandimoo.
I am so sorry your purchase failed to delight, it does rather sound like the cheese you were sold was not of the quality which we strive to maintain. Please get in touch with me directly at Butlers Farmhouse Cheeses, and I will endeavour to show you why Blacksticks Blue was named Best Cheese in the World
Christian
Just wanted to say that Chris-at-Butlers was as good as his word and I am currently enjoying the samples he sent and to say that I will give the blacksticks blue another go on this basis.
A good example of how a good customer relations rep can turn a disappointment into posative feedback. I love cheese and now I will look for some Blacksticks blue .
