Not very good start to my holiday so far

Went to pick up Little Tiggs from my parents Friday evening after having my hair cut and stayed for dinner. My dad had baked some salmon in foil so had that. Anyway, later on in the night after getting home I started feelling a bit icky. Went to bed at 11 and woke up around 2 and ran to the bathroom. Wont tell you the gory details but it was quite violent. Went back to bed and woke up a further 2 times running to the bathroom.
Don't think I've ever had food poisoning before so I don't know what other symptoms you get with it. I was shivering and my body was aching the whole of yesterday just like you get with flu.
Couldn't eat anything and spent most of the day in bed. My mum and dad weren't feeling to good either but luckily Mr Tiggs was round helping out with little one. We've got a table booked at a restaurant later today but don't know whether to go or not. I'm feeling a lot better but still a bit weak as I haven't eaten anything, and just been drinking lucozade. Should I go or cancel?

The problem with going is that you may feel temporarily better (nice environment & some pleasant company to distract you), but that may then mean that you overdo the food a bit with potential 'after effects'.
Hope you feel really better soon and can enjoy the rest of your hols.

I don't think its food poisoning tiggs, my husband had EXACTLY the same this week, freezing cold, couldn't get warm, very very weak, sick during the night, then the next night so hot, the bed was soaked I had to change all the bed clothes etc. Its the winter vomiting bug I think, very catching, so disinfect all surfaces well or the family will catch it. Good news is that it only lasts two days but leaves you weak. I gave him Lucozade and the first meal just plain cooked chicken and plain rice which he kept down. Hope you feel better soon.
It sounds like you`ve got exactly what I had earlier this week. I put it down to some tapenade I ate but after reading your post I`m sure it must be a bug that`s going around. I was as right as rain on Monday night and had dinner. I started to feel ill around midnight and had the runs. I spent all night freezing cold and shivering. In the morning my back ached and my head ached and it felt like flu. I had to go sick from work. I spent all that day in bed and the next night I was really hot. By Wednesday, I felt almost normal again. If it`s any consolation, it passes off quickly.
My parents had the same thing although my dad didn't throw up. My mum had the same as me. My brother was fine though but he didn't have any salmon so I thought it could have been food poisoning. Little Tiggs wasn't affected either.
Didn't think of the winter vomiting bug. Do you get diarrhoea with that as well?
