A very beautiful golf course, the Old Course, in Half Moon Bay, near San Fran; its sister course the Ocean Course is even more spectacular.
The 18th runs some 400 yards from an elevated tee, down a hill. and up into a long narrow green in the backyard of the Ritz Carlton Hotel, so close to the sundeck that there is a risk of golf balls landing in the hot tub. The Pacific Ocean hugs the hole all the way in.
To the right of the tee, there is a bench overlooking the ocean, a 120ft drop right beneath, and to the side, there is a plaque that reads.
"Just like Jay Moriarty's golf balls, his ashes were thrown into the Ocean from this point. Hit one over the cliff in memory of him."
