There are a few electronic translation tools out there. One of them is :

It's really only good for single words translations or very simple sentences. If you're looking to translate something more complex, I would advise you to ask a "real" translator. Or be prepared to end up with funny results ! Good luck.

I agree with maximo - it's easily the best one available, but it's not perfect by any means. My Mum's forever receiving strange emails at work that have clearly been "babelled".

I'm not meaning to sound cynical, but if you were planning on using it for translation to do with studying a foreign language (e.g., school/college homework) - it will be really obvious what you've done and you probably won't get away with it.

If that's not your purpose then please accept my apologies - I didn't mean to cause any offence.

Cool cool! I only said that cos it's amazing how many schoolkids come here looking for easy ways to cheat on their homework!!! :-0

Babelfish does not always give a correct translation. another site to try is

http://www.freetranslation.com

but again its not always accurate. I always use the one to check the other now.

Just wanted to add to what maximo and bug have said above. Don't trust it if it's for than simple sentences. Some of the must funny things I've ever seen is texts translated from English to Danish via some of those translation sites. Also good for a laugh if you're bored: Find a completely random site in a language that's not English and then get the site to translate it. Bound to make you laugh :)
