I am in the same boat as you, Sonyme, and I had help from visiting OT for a short time, but found that they really want to rehabilitate people recovering from operations rather than people with long-term problems. They did however show me how to use the microwave to steam little packets of frozen veg and rice etc, but I see you already do this.
I vary the supermarkets I order from in order to get a variety of meals - I agree that the same 4 read meals can be tedious! Asda do a very good range of chicken
http://groceries.asda...r.jsp?promoId=ls70506 called Fresh Tastes which are prepared- you just bung in oven, and lots of types. I use Tesco, Asda and Sainsburys in rotation.
I also got the OT to bring me a perching stool- it's still the wrong height to really cook- you can't see into the pans on the stove very well- but a lot better than nothing! Chopping up salad is at least possible now. I have avoided wheelchairs but many supermarkets have them in the entrance foyer- could you go shopping once a fortnight with someone and have a proper browse round for new lines etc? xx
