Why is it that when you're looking for a rented house the landlords specify no pets but I'd be allowed some scabby kids in there. I've been hunting on sites for a few months and found loads of properties that fit all the things I want and then at the end I see 'pets will not be considered'. Not even one little cat! There's less chance of my cat crapping on the carpet than a baby. Hhmph!!!!
Also, why can't the agents ever be bothered to put up full details on the houses. You're lucky if they have a photo of the outside most times. Then when you request more info they don't bother getting back to you.
I'm going to be living with my Dad until my 50's at this rate.

I let a property (here in France) who have two dogs and two goats and two ponies!! They know the property has to be left as they found it if not, no deposit back..
Good luck. It might just be they'd prefer people without pets but when all comes to all better someone with a pet than nobody so I'd still contact them.

I've seen the utter carnage in rented properties when a landlord has been stupid enough to let them out to tenants with pets. Chewed up furniture & kitchen units, cats using settees & chairs as scratching posts, dog & cat sh1t everywhere!
If I was a landlord I would also have a pet ban on a new tenant.

As I will be renting an unfurnished house any carnage my cat unleashes on the furniture will be my own. Aside from that, that's why they take a desposit.
I think it could cause problems if you don't inform them of pets Sandy. When I moved into my current house I asked the agent if I could have a cat and she said yes without actuall asking the LL. He came round one day to do some work and was a little annoyed to see the cat comfy on the sofa. Luckily once I showed him the email conversation about the cat I had with the agent he was ok about, just about.

Why don't you post an advert saying what you are looking for and that you have a cat but being a responsible owner will pay for any damage. It would maybe work in a smaller city.
My moronic moggies are 6 years old and past their most destructive years - most of the damage is to woodwork around doors. It can be repaired - I think.

My cat is too lazy to be destructive. If he feels he needs a pedicure he usually uses his scratch post if i keep topping it up with catnip, the garden fence or the back of my sofa and he always goes to the loo outside or uses the litter tray (other than the rare occasions he has been poorly). Like i said, the deposit is there to cover any damage or cleaning whether it be made by animal or human.
