What does his solicitor say...?
No. That is just how the law works.

The fact that he was on remand suggests the evidence was strong. He has probably escaped conviction on a technicality.

He should be thankful that he got away with it without getting a criminal record and a prison term. Hopefully he has learned his lesson.
LOL, as if he could.

It must have been something pretty serious?

So he is a potential criminal to begin with he is bloody lucky to be out and about - accept it. 2 offences (potentially) and you really want to be with a man like this.....???
Anyway, back to your question

•There is generally no compensation for people who have served time on remand, however long they may have been inside for. The only cases where this can happen are where the police have acted improperly. A remand prisoner that leaves prison or court having been found not guilty is not entitled to any support from the probation service or to the £46 discharge grant.
No.
Just give him lots of love, and make him happy to be free.
