There was an absolutely grim cover of Seven Nation Army posted here yesterday ... but actually I quite like cover versions that re-invent the original.

This turns an Echo & the Bunnymen classic into something strange end ethereal ... any other cover version favourites out there ?

i agree Sunny Dave. a cover version should bring something new to a song. this has always been a favourite of mine (i didn't even know it WAS a cover for years!)

well, Hendrix's cover of All Along the Watchtower wasn't bad... I won't post a link as I've got it permanently on a loop in my head

George Michael brought out a version of the classic New Order song True Faith....it was about the worst cover version I have ever heard.

Like the Mad World cover, the best covers are those that change a song significantly
