I never knew that Florence Nightingale was born in Italy. I found this out quite recently, but on mentioning it to my wife, she seemed surprised that I did not know, it was common knowledge, she said.
I wonder if others have found out something they didn't know, which others thought was common knowledge?

common knowledge is something you know that someone else doesn't.

Found out something last night that I didn't know - reading the tv mag in the chinese take away I found out that John in Emmerdale (RIP) is married to that Welsh bird with the annoying voice from Gavin & Stacey.
