i want to buy a wireless headphone for my tv. But to not want to cut out the sound for others watching. What is best way forward?

It's not the headphones - it's the tv.

I spent an age finding a tv with two audio tuners - one for the headphone jack and the other for the tv speakers.

What make/model is your tv?

Does it mute when you plug headphones in?

Have you any sort of headphone that you can plug in to the audio jack?
If you tell me the exact model of your tv I'll look at the specs.

You can use the audio output sockets at the back to connect to the wireless transmitter.
That's how I set mine up, doesn't interfere with the normal volume controls.
