I feel rough
9 Answers
Hi. for the past two or three days I have been feeling really out of sorts. I am diabetic so I am guessing this could be the cause. I have an excessive thirst all the time and feel very hot. My face feels as though its on fire and my feet are the same. I have a head-ache (not a bad one) that won't shift. I feel so uncomfortable that I can't sleep, hence I am really tired. I also have high blood pressure and possible thyroid problems. I guess I had better make an appointment to see the diabetic nurse tomorrow, but any ideas would be grateful. Thanks.....

i find that most strange that your doctor has told you you don't need to test your blood sugars! - was this recently?
i'm type 2 aswell, and like to regularly keep an eye on my levels (on waking, before meals, 2 hours after eating and last thing at night)
as jem says, maybe you're running a bit high at the moment, causing you to feel out of sorts..?
yes, get yourself booked in to see your nurse tomorrow and have a chat with her.
if she tests your levels in the surgery though, she will only get a reading of how they are at that present moment, that's why it would be so much better if you were testing your own throughout the day.
i hope you feel better soon :o)

All your replies are very welcome, thankyou. Loobylooo, I was quite surprised too, to be told blood sugar testing at home was now not needed. This was done by a letter from my surgery(and I guess sent out to all type2 diabetics registered there). Cutting down on the cost was one reason. If I still want to test at home then I must buy the prescription privately. But there are also certain circumstances when we can still get testing kit. All done to confuse!!!! Sqad, my neighbour is also diabetic, would it be OK to ask her for some testing strips...I still have my own monitor, I do need to know what my blood sugar levels are on a regular basis.
As long as the strips are compatible with your tester it will be fine.
As fat as testing is concerned......if you are feeling well and well controlled, then resting once a week is fine, however if you feel I'll, then testing perhaps three times a day is necessary.
I feel that your problem is viral, but time will tell.

Thanks Sqad. Well I have tested my blood before breakfast-it was 6.7....I have just taken it again(11am)- and it is 13.0. A wee bit high I think!!! I will carry on testing regularly and see what happens before I go to nurse. I take metformin three times daily and I have to have my bloods done in March-HbA1c levels. They are also re-testing for thyroid then.
