i have beige coloured textured wallpaper with dark red squares dotted over it.how do you think i should go about painting over it with emulsion.i do not want the red to show through. thanks
You could try painting over the red parts with the paint you're going to use, let it dry then roller the whole place. Alternatively paint the room red. :)
thanks for replys,i want to paint the room a pale blue,i will try what you say not doing it yet waiting for the weather to warm up.just in the prep stage. thanks.
I'd suspect painting over many many red squares would be too much hassle. If you use decent paint one coat maybe be enough anyway. Otherwise two coats is what I'd normally use, to be on the safe side. If the squares still show through, buy a better brand of paint next time. A roller should suffice, but use a brush if you ar happier with it. Cover any carpet/furnishings.
I would buy a 'one coat emulsion' and firstly paint over all red sections; 'feathering off' all the edges with the paint brush. Allow to dry and then paint over the whole of the wallpaper with, if indeed necessary, two coats.
