flu/cold and terrible aching in face - any advice gratefully received.

Have been ill since Sunday. Temperature alternating with being freezing cold, raw throat,headache, aching limbs, but the worst thing is my aching jaw. It feels as though I have chewed a hundred toffees - the pain is awful, and nothing is easing it, It even hurts to lie down - the aching has taken over my whole head and I am so miserable. Any advice please??

I get sore gums and jaw when my sinuses are bunged up.

sounds awful suggest you call nhs help line especially if you are having a stiff neck and light sensitive eyes try paracetamol for the pain and temperature hope you get well soon

Sounds viral in origin.....plenty to drink, Ibuprofen 600mgms as and when necessary up to 6hourly..........monitor the situation.

Could be mumps.

I only have co-codamol and nurofen in the house - are they any good or do I need to send somebody to shops? Thought I was a toogh cookie but this has knocked me for six. Literally sweating till I am soaked, even though I am shivering.

Nirofn is fine, but it only contains 200mgms of Ibuprofen which is useless....you need to take 3 nurofen tablets at a time.

while you are here sqad have just finished 12 cycles of chemo but feel terrible is this normal

Owd.......glad you have finished.......chemotherapy affects people in different ways depending upon the type of chemotherapy........but YES most people feel bloody awful. If the problem is nausea and/or vomiting, you can ask your GP for some tablets to relieve it.

i would take a combo of plain paracetamol and ibuprofen (alternating)

poor Smoball, I was just like that last week. I had to to get Antibods in the end otherwise it would have kept hanging on. I was also taking Co-codamol for knee problem and I think the two together have shifted most of it. I couldnt swallow for 3 days and lots of phlegm. Im much better now and back at work but not 100%.
Its not nice to feel so low, so ask for lots of TLC from family and friends ( and on here of course ) Hope you feel better soon

Thankyou guys! Fever has now gone - throat still feels as though Ive swallowed glass, but at least I'm out of bed thank god.
