screen blank on laptop

Hi All,

My HP pavilion laptop screen has gone blank. I was on skype, went away, came back, nothing on the screen, just a pale blue screen with some fluffy white blotches. tried switching on and off several times, also used a lead and connected the video out to my television, but no signal received ( I use the desktop through the tv, so know that it was all o.k.) could this be the video card? if so, could I change this myself? or could it be the screen thats faulty?
or is it a job for a pro?

Sounds bad to me (blue screen). Shutdown your computer, start it up again, and rhythmically press the F8 key and you will get to the computer restore settings. Follow the instructions, put your password in and try "restore your computer to and earlier time. Choose from a list which date time you want to restore it from, and the rest is easy! Click OK!
