When Which? ran a report on virus protection, Microsoft Security Essentials was very highly rated and was by far the best of the free programs. I have had it on my laptop for some time with no problems at all.
Had load of problems using mcaffee so didn't renew it and after reading reviews on mse thought I'd give it a try. So glad I did can't believe the difference in the performance of my laptop as it doesn't slow it down at all. I would say give it a go you have nothing to lose .
