while I was helping my Uncle lift a bath about 6 months ago, my tummy sort of popped. Now when I lift anything heavy sometimes (not always) it kind of moves again. Like you say jono its not painful just very uncomfortable.
The 'twanging elastic bands' are probably individual strands of a tendon snapping. Occasional 'twangs' aren't too much to worry about (it happens to most people at some times) but if it's happening regularly you need to take care. Many years ago, my aunt experienced these problems in her wrist whenever she used the throttle on her moped. The doctor advised her to give up driving the moped; he said that if the strands of the tendon kept on breaking she would lose the use of the wrist and face an operation which might not be successful.
