"If you start to get Disability Living Allowance it might increase the amount of other benefits you're entitled to, for example:
. . . income-related Employment and Support Allowance".

So, based upon that, it seems clear that the two benefits are not mutually exclusive.

ESA is paid to folk who have a limited capacity for work, DLA is paid to those who have mobility problems and/or need help wi personal care and as Chris has said, you can get both ESA and DLA at the same time. The fact that you are entitled to one does not guarantee that you'll get the other since they look at different aspects of the illness or disability for each benefit.
