Cat wormer Drontal V Milbemax

I cant put my hand in my cat's mouth to give him a wormer as he would bite my fingers off. If I crush up Milbemax Tasty on his food he won't eat it. Does anyone use Drontal and is this tastier when crushed ?

When my cat was ill we had to wrap her in a little blanket so she couldn't move - and hold her firmly. Then someone opened her mouth, threw the tablet towards the back of her throat, closed her mouth and kept it closed so that she cannot spit it back out and massage her throat to make her swallow (or him in your case). It took three of us but we managed in the end. These cats just don't know when you are trying to help them do they?

Are we talking tablets here? Maggie is a nightmare as well. Have you tried shoving inside a piece of cheese, or a nice juicy prawn, or wrapped inside a slice of ham or chicken? Cut the pill in half to make it less detectable by said cat.

Have you considered a Pill Popper ? The vet once used one to get a pill down my cat. Trying to do it yourself is a nightmare !

Just tried to give our cat half a Milbemax tab, ground up finely in his favourite food. The little bastard didn't eat it.

They are not daft, I tried crushing up drontal tabs into their food and they left it, what a waste of tablets too as they are not cheap! My trick is to smother the pill in margarine or butter and pop it in their mouth and hold it shut, they swallow in no time and it glides down a treat.

I was on antibiotics for 2 weeks last time I tried to give one of mines a pill. Why did we allow such a fierce and fearless creature into our homes?

They look so small and fragile when they are kittens.

try advocate its a drop on the back of the neck and does internal parisites as well as fleas, ear mites etc bit more expensive but all done in one go

I usually take mine to the vet butstarbucks method is good. You must wait till they lick their nose before letting them open their mouth properly that is the indication they have swallowed

Hmmm. I often wonder if they've tried these odourless and tasteless pills on an actual cat. Maggie can detect one a mile off. She won't even approach a dish that has a pill hidden in it. My male cat was different though. He was greedy and just wolfed it down and I doubt the pill touched the sides.
I have managed it a couple of times by tucking cat under my left arm but still with feet (the cat's not mine) resting on the worktop. Have pill in the right hand and hold the cat into your left side with the inside of your elbow. Put left hand over cat's head from the back and open mouth and pop pill in them massage like crazy. After 5 minutes, check all corners of the house for discarded pill.

And I thought I had the only mad cat ... seems I am not alone. Does anyone use Drontal by the way and what's the difference between Drontal and Milbemax. ?
