White spot on eye
6 Answers
I know I should see a doctor or optician about this and I am going to go have my eyes examined but just thought I'd ask on here first.
We had pictures taken at the weekend and have seen some of them on Facebook. I'm only in one of them but there is a white dot on my right eye when the other eye is red.
Should I be alarmed about this or can there be other logical explanations.
Other people took pics of us so I'm waiting to see if the same thing happens on those, but it just had me worried after reading that these white spots that show up in photos are brain tumours or cancers?
Can it be something and nothing? I am having my eyes tested at the weekend so if there is anything it should be spotted with that.
Thanks

I was recently diagnosed with and treated for a malignant tumour in my left eye. Nothing was visible from the outside except with opthalmic instruments. It was visible from the inside though. One thing that could cause the appearance of a white spot in your pupil would be a cataract ie. a cloudiness of the lens, but you would notice a haziness in the vision from that eye long before it was noticeable from the outside. I have a cataract as a result of the treatment for my tumour which is barely visible to the naked eye yet has rendered the affected eye virtually blind.
Has this white spot been visible in other photos? if not it could simply be a reflection of a bright light off the cornea.
