Are we the only nation which is always commenting on the state of the weather?
''Morning ,Fred...lovely day today''
''Morning Fred,...bit nippy this morning, isn't it''
''Morning Fred...gosh its hot today''
''Morning Fred....damp start to the day''

Perhaps it's because our weather is interesting and it's a good conversation starter.
Can't imagine those Bedouins popping into their local newsagents tent in the Arabian desert and saying.."Morning..Lovely and sunny today" ..
They just ask for a copy of the Saudi Sun, 20 Camel and a caramel for the camel.

chi-chi,explain yourself!LOL. When did you discover that your Fred was a girl? Or were you like my Irish ancestor, who wanted a son next. When the next two were girls he called them Tommy and Billy (which stuck; they were called that by everyone for the rest of their lives)?
Bet we are the only country who always on about the weather. We can get all four seasons in one day!

Sorry pillj123.......I have gone entirely off the thread..but agree we get that
many types of weather in a day or an hour and its a pleasant way and innofensive way of greeting someone we don't know. It's surprising how many friends I have made over the years standing at the bus stop and uttering those words.

It's Raining, well just spitting, here in Brighton & Hove. Hurrah! Gardens are bone dry and rock hard, oh boy do we need it. I collect rainwater in a jug to give to my cat as she doesn't like tap water and all we've collected since Christmas is about a third of a jug and that was 2 months ago. So I hope it carries on but it's very fine and we need a good soak and some.
