I have asked for advise before on this one but no success with any suggestions as yet so thought I would try again. My thumb nails have two vertical splits either side and I have tried everything to get them to heal. Has anyone suffered with this and have you had any success with anything to cure it. TIA X

I have also the index finger nails split as well. Sorry I don't have a cure I would also like to know how to deal with this.
I have a vertical split on one thumb nail. I have to keep it cut very short and use Diamond Strength Nail Hardener, but it always splits again.

my index fingers sometimes split but are ok at the moment, Im wondering if its age related ;-O
If you mean that you thumb rather than the nails split, the only solution that I found helps is to superglue the splits. I know how painful these splits are and I was driven to do it out out despair and it does work.
i have found with this, that sometimes to the left side of the split, you can peel the top layer of the nail away, leaving a very thin, but unsplit nail. use sally hansen or anything similar,to then protect, and a nail handcream.try not to use those thumbs at their bad sides when pressing on anything in general daily use. sometimes this works for me and other times i end up having to keep the nails filed down. not the biggest problem in life, but very annoying!!
i have horizontal splits on all my nails ?
ooft, just googled horizontal ridges on fingernails.. wish i hadnt now :( :(
Oh dear Anne, that's the trouble with looking up things on the internet.

Smurf's link gives the best advice of all in my opinion.

Nail hardeners and protectors can actually cause the nails to split more. Nail oil and occasional buffing and lashings of hand cream seem to work best for me. (I have never had good nails) And, although it is a real bind, use rubber gloves for every job which involves water.
hi lottie, can you have a look in b&s, someone was looking for info re cardiac stents.
Anne, I can only find one question about Drug Eluting Stents in Arteries and I don't know what they are!!! (or what 'eluting' mean!!)
