Question Author
Good answer but what have espadrilles got to do with actors feet?
Nothing MtheP - it's the answer to the onion question (anag: Lairds Peel). Thought I'd keep you on your toes as the theme was 'hands and feet'. Gotta go, electric blanket on fire . . .

Footlights! As in Cambridge Footlights, where most of the Monty Python team met.
Espadrilles are French from 'esparto grass' from which they were made. Late 19th century, and not Spanish as you would think from the name.
Sorry, just realised footlights is only 10 letters!
Dialects - tongues (as in part of a shoe)
Dialects.= Brogues
