you should get a reminder in the post advising you of its due date
3 years after the registration date.
You don't get reminders for an MOT unless the garage you previously got an MOT from send you one, the DVLA don't send them out.
Good question Lozzer, I don't know but would guess on the anniversary of the registration. Why not phone your MoT station for a definitive answer?
When you find out will you let us know please?
3 years from registration date
You can get your car MOT'd up to one month before it's due, even if it's the first MOT. The MOT certificate will be dated one year from the due date. Although the vehicle records are computerised these days I would take your log book along with you as proof of dates. Once your car is in the system you don't need to take the MOT certificate for future MOTs.

yep, apologies, looking at my reminder now it's from the garage
It's on green and white paper, same as a DL, and didn't read it properly plus it came in a brown windowed envelope
