it started with wind-up radios, now you can buy wind-up torches, i now beleive you can get a wind-up torch with a mobile phone connector to charge yr phone.
Question, is there a wind-up device for laptops yet, and how can i find out what wind-up torch for example fits my nokia x3?
thanx in advance

I bought cheap (£3.99 I think) wind up torch from a garage which came with about 8 different mobile phone connectors. Argos would be the place to start or Go Outdoors.
I'm unsure how much power a laptop uses, but the speed some run out of power I suspect you'd need to be permanently cycling to keep the thing going while you used it.

I have a Philips wind-up torch. If I wind it until my arm aches so much that I want to die, it lights for about five minutes.
I got one of those types of torch from QVC when they first came out. I wind for a minute and it light just enough to read the meter under the stairs with :-) The small handle means that keeping a good rhythm going whilst charging is not exactly easy.
A wind-up laptop was being developed specifically for schools in developing countries - I'm not sure where the project got to:
