Problem Playin FLV Files
10 Answers
Bit long winded but-- I'm a teacher and wanted to use some Youtube videos in the classroom; I tried accessing Youtube at school but it's blocked so I downloaded the videos from Youtube at home (flv format) and put them on a memory stick. When I went to play them on the classroom computer (running Windows XP but very very old computer) they wouldn't work and said the file type wasn't supported. I downloaded the latest Flash player but that didn't help so downloaded something that said it would allow me to play flv files but that didn't work either. Any suggestions would be much appreciated.

This is the (superb) media player which is most frequently recommended here on AB, in the technical press and on BBC technology programs:
http://www.videolan.org/vlc/
It will play almost any type of media file.
However I rate this as even better!
