When you hear the word Grandma, nanny etc - what age comes into your head??

I automatically think late 50's,eary sixties, perm and floral skirt! But then I guess I am remembering my own nan......

I'm nearly 58 and called Grandma 'Robi' which I don't mind at all....doesn't make me feel old, and I've never had a perm in my life :o)

I am grandma to 4 children (I'm 43).

anneasquith - thats the bit I'm not happy about. Its one of my other son's gf, and he is only 18.

My eldest grandson is 4 now, the youngest is 2. I am referred to as grandma by all 4 of them (my choice). I had my girls when I was 19 for the first and 20 for the second, they had their kids young too (18 and 21).

I get called Granny and don't mind at all. The other grandmother gets called Nanny.

for reasons known only to my oldest granddaughter im nanapants ..... my younger granddaughter calls me that sometimes but mainly she says nanarrrr.... i cant wait to see what my grandson calls me when he starts to speak....

Became a Gran for the first time at 50 and that's what all 4 of them call me. Perm? Floral skirt? Shudder!!!!!

I'm 57 and keep dropping hints about wanting a Grandchild, don't know when/if it will happen. Many people younger than me are Grannies/Nanas. No chance of me wearing a pleated skirt & twin set with pearls. I always wear jeans or trousers. I'd just like a Grandchild to hold & love. Next hint is going to be, sons' Grandad is nearly 82, be nice for him to know his Great Grandad.
