reducing video file size..?

hi,
can anyone help please?
i'm wanting to email a family home video to a friend, but the size of the video is larger than the allowed 25mb,
is there a way i can reduce the file size please?
(i know theres tinypic and photobucket to concider using, but i was hoping i could try reducing the file size first, so i can email it)
any help/suggestions appreciated,

upload it to yousendit (or a similar file hosting site) and send them the link to the video so they can download it. (the other option would be to upload it to youtube and set it as a private video and send them the link to it)
there are a few reasons why I say this.
1) you've not said how big the video actually is, if it's 300MB you wouldn't have a hope of reducing it to under 25
2) You are obviously hitting a limit on what size you can send, but the person you are sending to may have a different (smaller) limit on what size email their email provider will allow
3)reducing videos in size is quite a complex and involved process.
4) sending large files to people in email is generally considered bad form, you don't know what their connection speed is and if it's slow it might jam their email up for several hours while they download the video.
