Ex husband lodging with me???

My husband and I have lived apart for twenty years now but have remained friends ,we have children and grandchildren ,so have always managed to be amicable...we just could not live together.
He has been living with friends for a number of years but they now plan to retire to Cyprus... although he still works part-time,he is now nearly 70...the family feel he should not got to live in new lodgings with strangers or be on his own...the children do not have the room..but I do.
BUt I am wondering how this will affect me financially..I do know because I am in receipt of Disability Living Allowance,it will not affect my HB/CT but part of my Pension Credit will be deducted..have looked into this a while back when my son wanted to move in..he didn`t in the end.
But as this is my EX (sort of),would this be looked on differently...I do not want to be classed as living with him as man and wife...as we would not be,want to keepmy benefits as my own
He would be a lodger so to speak.
Does anyone know how this situation would be looked on????

If you are not actually divorced then in the eyes of the law you are still a couple, name change does not matter. If he does come and live in your house for benefit purposes you are a couple and nothing can change that unless he moves out again.

Sorry I should have been clearer. Pension credit makes sure your income is at a minimum level. That level is £203 a week for a couple. DLA & Carers allowance are not counted as income when accessing Pension credit, so you get that on top. But earned income , pensions state or private are included and will be deducted. Somewhat strangely it can be worth giving up some income to drop your total income below the qualifying amount for pension credit. This is because if you get any pension credit , even £1 a week, you also automatically get the maximum possible housing and council tax benefit
So in most cases you pay zero rent and council tax.

I have been reading the form DS700S to claim CA if you get State Pension
and the notes definately says:
"Money you get from private or occupational pensions is not
counted as earnings."
It would be no use his trying for CA whilst he is working as he earns more than £100 a week.so decided to look into if he was not.
On reading all the notes ,it appears to be impossible to get anything by applying for CA,for example look at this:

"If you get less than the full rate of State Pension, and this
means that you start getting Carer’s Allowance for the person
you are looking after, their benefit or entitlement may go down.
For example, the person you are looking after cannot get severe
disability premium if you are getting Carer’s Allowance. See
page 13 of these notes for where to get advice about this.
If your State Pension is more than Carer’s Allowance, we will
not pay you any Carer’s Allowance, although you will still have
entitlement to it. If this is the case, the severe disability
premium paid to the person you look after will not be affected.
Please see page 11 of these notes for information on how State
Pension and other benefits affect payment of Carer’s Allowance.
If you can get Carer’s Allowance, we will contact you for details
of how you want to be paid"
Seems like double Dutch to me!!!!!
One would have to be very careful what they are doing to not fall in a trap.
Are you on State Pension? So £203 is the pension for a couple but do we have to claim as a couple?
So as an example:He gets £60 a week SP ,I get £40 a week SP (plus PC making it up to £130 odd in total a week)=£100 in SP`s weekly but as a couple would get £203 a week which includes PC??This makes us only £13 better off than the way it stands at the moment,remember this is all hypothetical as we are not even living together and we seem to have got of the original question about his lodging with me,which does not appear to be possible as we are still legally married.Oh Dear !!
Would I be asked for proof of being separated,I imagine they would ,but who knows how these places work as sometimes one wonders if they know what they are doing!!!!
