Strange message about AB access =I've been Throttled !!
I've recently moved to Chrome as my ISP and am loving it -no problems except that sometimes when I'm on AB I get an 'Internal server error 500" which means can't access a page -I go off AB come back on and its ok - but today - apparently my message is that My access had been THROTTLED' LOL! Now I know a few people who would probably take great enjoyment from either watching that process or doing it -but up to this point my laptop has never turned on me - techno buddies - whats going on???

Chrome is not an ISP and, more to the point, the fact you've moved to Chrome has no bearing on throttling.

Builder -thanks for the link but although I'm a fluffy brained little female who doesn't know my browser from by buttock I do have the capacity to Google - and that brought up links similar to the one you very kindly posted, which mainly tell me where when and the app to use if I require to throttle something -I've been throttles and would like to know in LAYMANS terms What The Funicular it is - lol! answers on a postcard pls.

It's not worth trying to understand it. It's just one of those highly technical processes that should remain "transparent to the user". In other words...... "there's a c0ck-up in the code somewhere that has thrown up something none of us have any need to be told about".
Ignore it. Whatever it is, they'll fix it. :o)

Again, this is nothing to do with Chrome, it's simply AB having a wobble which would still have happened if you'd stayed with your original browser.

This one's nothing to do with Chrome *or* AB, it's that you're making too much use of your internet and your ISP (who ISN'T Chrome, remember) has decided to limit your access. Possibly you're downloading a lot of movies or songs ...

Cheers ellipsis - that's just what I needed. Strange thing is I'm not a heavy internet user - never download movies, don't download songs except the odd one off iTunes like maybe twice a month -and don't do gaming on line - I'm with BTBroadband so may give them a ring ( that will be fun) and swee whats going on if it continues -thanks
^^ Bear in mind, though, that ALL downloads to your PC will contribute to your monthly allowance, not just the ones you initiate manually and deliberately.
Have you, perhaps, installed anything recently which connects to the Internet regularly and automatically? Maybe you've signed up for some sort of "cloud" service like automatic on-line backup? That would tend to bump up your UPLOAD stats rather than download, though some ISPs monitor that too...
