I have a subscription to the mag she is suing

She is suing because they claimed she had a relationship with a rapper

I read the story and it was an actual interview from the guy!?

She denied it and the week after the magazine printed a page with him saying he was hurt blabla and maintaining he had a relationship! Also he showed private emails between them to the magazines lawyer who confirmed they indeed suggested a relationship......but they didnt print the contents!

What i was wondering is should she not be suing the guy instead of the mag? Xx

There is a good chance the guy didn't give the interview that was printed.

He did ummm im sure of it!

It was a q&a type interview an he was in it next issue sticking up for himself and also back n forth with a war of words on twitter with her!! Xx
Tinks I read that interview too but I don't remember him saying they had an actual relationship. He said he hadn't seen her for years and they exchanged emails....from what I can remember! My memory is rather dodgy though! I think the mag made more of it than was actually said.
But you do know that they also make stories up?

He really did suggest that it was a romantic thing voddy! I cant remember fly but basically said they didnt have enough time for each other and he exchanged mails with her mum and he was bursting to say he was cheryls OH!! He said he was hopping mad when media was linking her to other men and was dying to say he was with her!!!

Plus the lawyer thingy!!

Well ummm i suppose they do but im probobly daft enough to believe most because i imagine theyd be sued left right and centre!! In this day and age is it really worth printing lies? Xxx
Dammit I'm going to have to search it out now! It's in my recycling pile lol. :)
Yes....it is worth their while printing lies because most celebs won't sue.

Some celebs have been linked with people they haven't even met before. It sells mags though.

Hmmm. Food for thought though i did believe it! X
She wouldn't sue him . The magazine will have plenty of funds or insurance available whereas he is unlikely to , and so is not worth suing. And anyway, the magazine was responsible for the publication of the supposed libel to thousands of readers, so is liable too. She could sue both but in practice, unless he is extremely wealthy, would opt for the magazine only.

It's not clear what is defamatory about saying she had a relationship with a rapper, unless she was married at the time and the suggestion is that she was being unfaithful to her husband. An untruth is not necessarily actionable anyway; it has to 'lower [the complainant] in the eyes of right thinking people' as the old lawyers had it.
Tinks, are you talking about the interview in heat?

I missed the first one but read the second one and I'm sure he said in that he'd never had a relationship with her and they hadn't had more than a kiss on the cheek. I remember it more because Boyd Hilton was making his weekly appearance on radio5 that week and mentioned that the main story in heat was how a rapper says he didn't have anything with CC.

I bet she isn't really going to sue either. Hasn't she just launched a new product or something? Just a bit of publicity.
