Help please!

My 80 year old Mum has a laptop. Today a full page advert for something called BTFON has appeared and she nor I can get rid of it. We can clic the CLOSE cross but can not get onto the internet at all. She has phoned the helpline but unfortunately she could not understand the person she was speaking to. She was then called back by another person, but again she had trouble understanding them. Is there ANY way to get help from the UK?

My guess is that you *are* on the internet and that BT have simply dumped some sort of advert onto your screen instead of going straight to your home page.
Try holding down the 'alt' key and then pressing the 'home' key at the same time - this should take you to your usual home page.

Right - have done some more googling - ignore my previous post.
What's happening is that your mum's laptop is connecting to the wrong wireless network - a BTFON network point instead of her own router.
Right click on the little symbol of two pc monitors in the bottom right hand corner of your screen - then click on 'connect to a network'. Then you need to disconnect from the BTFON network and connect to your mum's own network.
