22 children dead in Swiss tunnel crash

Along with 6 adults. Belgians returning home.

Horrendous.

Obviously something needs looking at that a structure in a tunnel can bring a vehicle to an abrupt stop, but such matters are unfortunately only dealt with after a tragedy.

We have been here before Phil. The only consolation is that Swiss hospitals are superb for the injured.

Being a rescuer puts you into a close knit team but when there is a dead body everybody is on his/her own. My very worst was 6 dead and the scars last.

Yes, Swiss medical care is really good.

such a tragedy for all concerned. so sad. so very sad.

not necessarily the driver's fault. he may only have been a short while into his shift as a driver but what other duties did he have before he started driving? he is only allowed to drive for 4.5 hrs before a rest but what else did he have to do before that. not excusing him just want to take everything into consideration as this is such a tragedy.

A lot of people do not know about this Lady Janine, 4.5 hrs before a rest but what else did he have to do before that. a lot of coach drivers do another bit of work before starting a shift on PSV buses, that goes for HGVs as well.

twr - driving for 4.5 hrs may not seem long but most roads are so full of other traffic and many people drive without any consideration for other drivers or the vehicles they are in control of. I think we have just got to wait and see what emerges at the investigation. at the moment i can only think that it is a tragedy for all concerned.

The pain will never go when children are involved Red as we all know, a parent has lost a child, a child has lost a father, & a Wife has lost her husband. to the people / children of the Countries our thoughts are with you.
