Is there much point in getting a new tv with 1080p as opposed to 1 with 720p. Main use would be for watching sport, films(on dvd) and tv(virgin media + box via HD)
Final picture quality depends on so many factors - my advice is to stick with a decent brand (Panasonic, Samsung etc) and avoid supermarket own-brands and "Argos-only" sets, which are made down to a price.
Richer Sounds is a great place to buy a TV (one of Which? Best Retailers) and as you can see (depending on size of screen) you can get a decent 1080p set within your budget.
ut my original question wasn't where to buy 1 from but more would it be worth buying a 1080p if the main use would be films(on dvd and tv) and sport (via v+ box using hdmi cable).
