We went to the supermarket this evening - it was Nibble's first real trip out, although he's doing fine on crutches.

He was sitting down near the till while I was packing up, and someone said to their child, "watch out, don't step on the cripple!"

Nibble's laughing, but it's not a word you hear very often these days!

That's another thing which is stupid - Indians are from India but you can't say P*kis are from Pakistan, isn't that ridiculous! See - it's just a word, someone has decided its offensive, so why not ban the word "Indian"
I'm with you there Ann. Shall we also ban the words English are we are now all European. Lets not forget Welsh, Scottish and Northern Irish. Vast amounts of money wasted. For what?

The trouble with the expression P@kis was that everyone was called it from the subcontinent, whether they came from Pakistan, Bangladesh, India... there was a story in our local rag only a few weeks ago where the police were called to a shop for an affray, the lout had called the shopkeeper an f-ing *** - he was more offended at the P word than the F word, he said, because he came from Sri Lanka..
Actually I am quite surprised that a certain Disney cartoon film has not already been renamed as, "Frozen precipitation with maximum light-reflecting potential and the seven vertically-challenged persons".

There used to be a road sign in Enfield saying 'Caution Cripples Crossing' near a hospital that specialised in treating amputees. Now it says 'Caution Disabled Persons Crossing'
