Printing a 4 X 6 photo.2
9 Answers
I know I have entered this question before, but I am getting desperate since the problem hasn't been resolved and my previous thread has now gone into Room 101.
Can anyone help me please?
I have a HP photosmart C4600 series 3 in 1 printer, and I wish to print a 4X6 borderless photo.
Using the photo printing wizard, I have set it to print borderless, on 4 X6 HP advanced printing paper, at the best quality, and landscape orientation.
I have set the paper face down in the correct position, but the problem is it only prints just over half of the photo and leaves the rest blank.
What could the problem be please?

For more on marking an answer as the "Best Answer", please visit our FAQ.to expand a bit on my other answer - I don't use the printing wizard, I go through the printer software itself. When I click on "print", a panel comes up and there's a tab called "properties"; clicking on that before proceeding with printing gives a variety of options. But it will depend on what make of printer you have.
As to what the problem might be, sorry, I don't know.

I had a very similar problem, and in the end I sold my HP machine and bought a Kodak. (Brilliant with a capital B!) If I remember correctly it was to do with the settings. I know I emailed HP and they sorted it out but by then I'd had so many little problems I simply gave up with it. So I'd advise you email HP from their 'Help' page. You may have to wait about 3 days for an answe. (More as it's Friday pm now.) Good luck!
Following on from Rowanwitch's answer, it seems as if you have still got the paper size set to A4.
I've looked at the HP C4600 user manual and can't find any reference to a Printing Wizard. This is normally a feature of photo processing software. What software are you using for printing?
I use PaintShop Pro Photo X2 and in that, by following File - Print Setup -Print properties you can change paper size, orientation and quality. It is also possible to arrange three 6" x 4" photos on an A4 sheet and cut them after printing.

It must come with Windows, because when I go into 'my pictures' (where my photos are stored) and select a photo, there is a menu at the side, one which says "print this picture", when I click on that the picture printing wizard appears, and it in there that I set the size, orientation and type of paper.

Just a few more thoughts, AOG:
1. Have you tried printing a "portrait" orientation 6"x4" photo? The reason I ask is that when I use 6"x4" paper I always use the setting for 6x4 plus tab and this paper should be fed into the printer short side first.
2. Daft question, I know, but have you Saved the settings in the printer wizard before you print?
3. Have you tried the free image viewer / editor, Irfan View (www.irfanview.com)? It's well worth a look and it's fairly simple to get to grips with.
I have had a couple of HP printers - the first one expired after about 8 years of sterling service) - I now have a Deskjet F4180 all-in-one and while this is a little more complicated, even quirky, compared to my old one, it produces very good photos of whatever size, orientation and quality I want. I just have to remember to check the settings before I hit the Print button as Mrs XX sometimes likes to use different settings from mine. (The printer's memory is better than Mrs XX's!)
