Can someone help here? We have a neighbour and good friend suffering from what he calls progressive and aggressive ms and at the moment is holding it together in living at home. However in the last few months he has suffered many episodes including falling down, can't get up without our help etc; He has had next to nothing in the way of medical care apart from being on antibiotics for the the last 6 months but if someone out here can lead us in the right direction we would do anything to help him live at home. We think however that the next step might be 24/7care but we hope not as he is a very independent person and my husband and I love having him next door

Sometimes people seem to just drop "off the radar" of the NHS. Maybe you could ring his GP and just have a little chat. They usually do encourage people to stay in their own homes as long as possible so they should help. Failing that, why not ring Social Services and say you want to help him stay there and were they aware he lives on his own with a serious medical condition where he can injure himself by falling. Maybe Sqad can give you advice what you can do and who to contact?
